Since 1976, over 2,100 students have graduated from Surry County High School. As classmates scatter after graduation, it becomes increasingly difficult to stay in touch with high school friends.

To make this task a little easier, this free website provides alumni news, details on coming reunions and other events.

Professional actor Antonio D. Charity ('90) has expressed an interest in playing the role of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in a new major motion picture being developed by DreamWorks Productions. He is looking for a way to get the attention of producers Steven Spielberg, Suzanne de Passe adn Madison Jones. Already there is a Facebook campaign to give Charity an audition and a chance at the role. Charity was first inspired to pursue acting professionally by the late Wiley Powell, Jr. after he joined the Surry County High School Repertory.....

Allen Ellis ('84) recently placed 2nd in the National Black Gospel Play Competition held in Nashville, Tennessee for his stage play, "Once Upon a Quiet Place".  Ellis is the owner of The Total Arts Theater.....

Surry County High School quarterback Montel White ('10) made a decision. The 6-foot-5, 202-pound lefty is headed to play college football at the University of Richmond on a full scholarship. White, the son of Kenneth White ('79) and Melvanette Hardy-Whte ('81), is happy .....

Pearl Lavetta Lyttle-Thomas ('81 ), 46, entered into eternal rest on Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at her residence. A native of Surry County, she was born on Nov. 14, 1962, to Mr. Joe Earl Lyttle Sr., and the late Mary Clarke Lyttle. She was a graduate of Surry County High School. She was a devoted member of Mount Nebo Baptist Church....

Clyde Ellis ('09), Surry County High School’s 2009 valedictorian, is one of 22 college-bound students in the country to receive a scholarship through the USDA/1890 National Scholars Program. He was selected from over 750 applicants. Ellis  will attend North Carolina A&T in the fall and major in biological engineering...

Beloved SCHS teacher Larry D. Jones, known to most as Coach "Bear" passed away on December 26th 2008. He was 56 years old....

The Virginia State Police promoted Earnest B. Poole, Jr. ('82) to Lieutenant, Fifth Division (Chesapeake) on April 10, 2009. He became a Virginia State Trooper in 1986 and will be responsible for over 250 sworn members and the incident commander for all field operations in the Fifth Division, which covers most of the eastern portion of Virginia. He holds a B.S. degree in Criminology and started his career in 1983 with the Smithfield Police Department.

John R. Butler ('81), born and raised in Surry County, is doing his part to enhance the lives, spirit, mind and people in the Northern Virginia area through proper fitness and nutrition. He is founder of TriJohn Fitness and Wellness Center and holds several certifications through the International Fitness Association.....

Final preparations are being made to get the new Surry Medical Center ready for patients. Surry native, Dr. Valencia Jones-Williams (’86), will serve as the primary care physician for the practice located on Route 10 adjacent to.....

Glenn Lyttle, Sr. ('83) is pastor of Olive Branch Baptist Church located in Suffolk, Virginia. The church has a membership of 300 and draws members from Suffolk, Smithfield, Norfolk and surrounding areas. He and his wife are parents to three children.

On March 1, 2008, Howard D. McFadden ('82) was named corporate secretary for Norfolk Southern Corporation. The SCHS alum joined the Fortune 500 company as a tax department attorney in 2001 and ....

Bell celebrated her 69th birthday on May 26th.

On April 29, 2009, nine alums and five coaches were inducted into the Surry County High School Wall of Fame. The induction ceremony was held during the William H. Miller Scholarship Banquet. The Wall of Fame recognizes former athletes, coaches and contributors that have been instrumental in making the SCHS athletic program a success.

Claude R. (Russ) Joyner, II ('76) was recently appointed an adjunct faculty member in the Math Science Institute at Palm Beach State College in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. An honor student and member of the National Honor Society while a senior at Surry County High School, Joyner is the Technical Fellow for Space Systems and Mission Analysis for Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne. With over 30 years of experience in aeropsace, he provides the engineering expertise.....

Dr. Dana Davis-Covington ('97) recently joined the hospitalist team at Riverside Regional Medical Center. An honor student at Surry County High School, Davis-Covington earned her medical degree at Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) where she also completed residency training in internal medicine. Prior to EVMS, she attended Norfolk State University (NSU) on a full scholarship as a DNIMAS scholar. She graduated summa cum laude from NSU in 2001. While a student at Surry County High School, Davis-Covington made history.....

In October 2009, Secretary of Defense Robert Gates announced that President Barack Obama nominated Brigadier General Michael T. Harrison, Sr. ('76) for appointment to the rank of Major General. A native of Surry, Virginia, Harrison assumed the duties of Deputy Director for Requirements on August 24, 2009. He has served in a variety of Joint Staff and Army Staff positions to include two assignments in the Office of the Chairman.....

Almost 20 years ago, Jean Claude Pierre Hill ('78) was a model young man, a brilliant student with a bent toward weight lifting and ambitions toward being a brain surgeon. Then it all went wrong. On April 9, 1991, Hill was arrested and charged with the murder of an insurance executive and the wounding of two others in Philadelphia. The murder garnered national headlines .....

Veronica Robinson ('85) is a familiar radio voice to many in the Washington D.C. area. A reporter for WTOP radio (103.5 FM and 107.7 FM) she has been doing radio for over 16 years. She started out in Petersburg, Virginia....

Tamara Brown-Inzunza ('91), Associate Broker and Real Estate Agent for McEnearney Associates, Inc., recently earned the distinction of Certified Distressed Property Expert (CDPE). She is one of less than 2,000 agents nationwide (out of over 1.2 million Realtor's in the U.S.) who holds the CDPE designation. The art of Alonzo Saunders ('88) recently draped the lobby and first-floor waiting area of the City of Hopewell courthouse. The approximately 30 images included a moving collection of paintings depicting African-American women. A resident of Petersburg, Virginia, Saunders has a distictive style and versatility.....

Mechelle Lynnette Savedge Blunt ('79) is best known to older alums for her role as Dorothy in the Surry County High School production of "The Wiz" back in the late 1970's. She was recently featured in the Tidewater News "Know Your Neighbor" feature....
